I regard clinical research into Inflammatory Bowel
Diseases as a core component of my work.

I am the clinical lead for research in this area at
University College London Hospitals and was also actively involved in
promoting research as chairman of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease section of the British Society of Gastroenterology
(BSG) between 2006-2009.

I am chair of the GI Speciality Group of the National
Insititute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network; this
involves taking a key role with in advising the NIHR on do-ability and
feasibility of potential/ particular research projects in
gastroenterology.
